  • It's most unpleasant trying to move around in the side-on swell. Mike is also carrying a 'toilet' container with sea water to flush the heads as our water maker has also failed (actually it never worked)!

  • A glimpse of a Dolphin. They were difficult to capture on camera!
  • I must admit there were times of worry and uncertainty - this picture captures a moment when we still had the arm rests on the bridge seating. The arm rests eventually broke under the strain of the rolling waves making sitting 'up top' even more difficult

  • Tiller Boys Mike & Graham relying on a handheld compass - their steering was all over the place including doing a full circle (not round an island!). Graham resisted using the iPhone and as a result he had to stop being a Tiller Boy
  • Sheila became decidedly green with the swell caused by the lack of steering and had to give up her Galley Slave (to Ann) role

  • I wondered why Mike (first mate) wanted some of Ann's red nail varnish. Four days away from land can do strange things to grown men but this photo shows the reason. With his customary ingenuity Mike painted two white lights red with nail varnish and hoisted the signal for 'this boat has limited or no manoeuvrability'
